Using the Device With Implants
If you have previously been cleared by your physician to use other electrical stimulation devices, they may also clear you to use the NeuroMD Corrective Therapy Device.
We do not recommend using the device directly over any metallic implants.
Clinical Research
For reference, here is a clinical study that evaluated NMES use in individuals with orthopedic implants:
“The influence of orthopaedic implants on patient tolerance of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES)”
Results showed that the presence of a metallic implant did not lead to increased sensitivity to NMES. Participants found NMES on the calf muscle comfortable and acceptable, and the study concluded that NMES can be safely considered for postoperative orthopedic patients as a method for DVT prevention.
